A photowalk from PT Salud bus stop, through Zaidín, Cervantes, Centro and Calle Elvira in the Albaicin District of Granada.
This is a pretty accessible walk for anyone that can get a bus to Granada. I started at P.T. Salud which is the stop for the hospital. Buses stop here from all the towns on the south coast. You can walk nearly the whole length of Granada to the bus station in the north, stopping to take photos, in about 3 hours.
For this photowalk, the forecast was (and I was looking forward to) rain to get some street photos of people hiding from the weather, so I took my cheapest camera and lens combination – a Canon 450D with the basic Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens. I’ve used this combination before and have not been happy with the quality of the photos but this time, after doing some editing in Darktable, the results are pretty good!
Above are the BIC buildings at the start of the walk. I plan to go back and get some more shots of these. They are very photogenic and the brown and cream exterior will look great against a blue sky.
During the walk, there is a good mixture of old and new architecture, pretty parks, monuments and grungy streets.
In the south of Granada there are many of these typical small houses that often are much bigger than they appear from the exterior. I particularly liked the row of houses with the trees in front. They look quite strange with the huge tree coming out the ground right next to the house.
Calle Elvira in the lower part of the Albaicin is pretty grungy. For me the perfect street photo location!
There are also various forms of street art along the route…

I have a video of my editing process for the photos I took this day. It’s tricky to follow with my mumbling but maybe interesting for someone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DSwi_lp-5I
