Experimenting with Lomography Tiger Color 110 film using a Minolta 460Tx and Maple 100 film using an Olympus XA1 35mm camera. Photographing in and around Salobreña, on the Costa Tropical in Southern Spain.
My dad has a collection of film cameras from the 1970s and 80s. Unfortunately no Leicas but a few that are interesting and worthwhile to take out on photowalks.
Amazing that the photo of the Alhambra above was photographed on a consumer level 35mm camera from 45 years ago
The tones of the Maple 100 film are really nice. All the following photographs are shot on the Olympus XA1 camera using the Maple 100 film. There’s very little editing, mostly only using Filmic RGB in Darktable that fixes some problems with dynamic range.
Maple 100 is sold with having a warm tone which certainly shows in the image below. This was taken during the day, so this isn’t a golden hour effect. It pushes the blues into more of a cyan effect.
Everything looks great until you zoom in and see the Olympus lens isn’t that sharp compared with new or higher end cameras of the era.
The Lomography 110 film really surprised me with the quality. The 110 film negatives are tiny but the 460Tx still produced some nice images.
My friends really like the nostalgic effect that the images gave – reminding them of holiday photos from the past.
